Jazz Club of Sarasota. 330 S. Pineapple Ave #111. Sarasota FL 34236 [The Jazz Club of Sarasota is the most active jazz club in the United Sates, with over 80 concerts and lectures each year. Founded in 1980 by the late Hal Davis, the former publicist for Benny Goodman, the club has approximately 750 members and is growing in membership. Every Wednesday night there is a jam session open to musicians and students. On the weekends there is first class music provided by local musicians or musicians that the club brings to Tallahassee. Bebop, hard bop, straight ahead, post-bop, plus everything inbetween or beyond are played here. Recently (April 2009)the legendary Lou Donaldson performed at the club. They serve drinks and food. Normally sets are at 9pm and 11pm.]
