Western Australian jazz has demonstrated resounding success with its jazz artists, from WAAPA jazz students and graduates all the way through to established professionals. The Ellington Jazz Club will provide opportunities for all of these jazz artists to perform and develop in an uncompromising environment purpose-built for them. This would hopefully lessen the bleed of talented Western Australian musicians to the Eastern States and overseas due to limited performance opportunities.
The service style at The Ellington is a table-serviced cabaret, and the music will be original jazz of a world class, cutting edge standard. The initial plan is to open for four nights per week with the long-term goal of staging live performances seven nights a week. The ground floor will be dedicated to live jazz performances and the first floor will be set out as a lounge area to allow socialising away from the main performance space.
The Ellington is fitted out with purpose built bar areas, stage, PA and modern lighting for optimum comfort and entertainment of both performers and patrons. We feel that the Perth music and entertainment market is primed for opening and sustaining a dedicated jazz performance venue.]
