I'm  Daryl and I've been very fortunate to have had some positive experiences and met some wonderful cats. The industry has pretty much relegated this genre towards the end of the spectrum just below country music and above Muzac. I must admit it's nothing new but after all these years it's still an enigma to me.

  When the newer cats come up, they ask about the cult figures like Miles, T. monk, Dizzy etc. I'm always quick to remind them that those same figures were dogged by the press and Jazz world when they decided to stretch their chops. Ironic that the sound that represents improvisational freedom had a vanguard that believed it still had to stay within the lines. The imaginary line I may add. Enough reflection. I just want to say that a few of us have been successful commercially , but more cats than ever are working it at the club gigs. They don't have an entourage , or endorsements, but the music is powerful.

  So to meet the cats here on this site is indeed wonderful. Lots of flavor here. Gratitude to meeting u guys and may your music continue to soar. DH
