Barry Mosley's first inspiration for Jazz was listening to a Chet Baker recording at age twelve. He was later invited by Chet Baker to perform with him several times in the mid 1980's, proving that dreams can come true. Other strong influences for Barry include valve trombonist Bob Brookmeyer who inspired him to play the valve trombone, Louis Armstrong and the early works of Miles Davis.

Leading his own Jazz Trio and sometimes quartet, he has performed at many of the best Jazz clubs in Los Angeles including Spazio's, The Hip Kitty, Jax Bar & Grill, Vitello's, The Left Coast Wine Bar and more. The trio has also performed for many private parties and events in Los Angeles.

As a sideman, Barry has performed in the Los Angeles big bands of John Renaldo, Horace Heidt, Clide Reasinger, and many others. He also played in the house band horn section at BB KIngs Club in Universal City.

Currently both Barry's CD's " Jazz Time " and " Speak Softly " have received repeated radio air play in the USA and Europe, and he has had thousands of youtube hits from his Los Angeles performances. The focus is on tasteful melodic playing, influenced by the cool west coast sound that has been his inspiration.
