Created in 2006, Tarannà is a Barcelona based septet lead by Sisu Coromina (La Bisbal d’Empordà, 1981) that uses contemporary jazz and instrumental song as point of departure in the search of their own sound. Their influences range between free jazz, progressive rock, improvised and traditional music. The group edited “Senyals de vida” (2007) and “Pintades d’amor i de guerra” (2009) both with the Catalan label Bankrobber, and self-edited “Oda al folklore” (2011). During 2009 and 2010, the band was also performing music for silent movies of the inventor and experimental filmmaker José Val Del Omar (1930-75). This project was born on behalf of Caixa Catalunya, showed in La Pedrera (Barcelona) and toured Sweden in November 2010. In 2011 Tarannà started self-managing and self-publishing. Currently the group is showing their parallel project “Oda al folklore“, Tarannà+Cobla+Agustí Fernández, an extended 14-musician ensemble. The performance was recorded live at La Bisbal d’Empordà’s theater and the resulting disc is being released this year. This show is dedicated to all countries and diversities, opposing the impact of cultural globalisation.
